Being called "mommy" for the first time is an awe-inspiring and transformational life experience. Having lost my own mom the same year that I had my first child, I find it hard to believe that I am the new matriarch, the emergency contact and the head of the family. Someone actually calls me mommy. I wrote the poetry and drew the illustrations in this book as a creative way to capture the precious, ironic, comical and fleeting moments of motherhood. I hope that you enjoy this labor of love, and recognize the power of your parenthood within its pages.
